Contemporary history museums are fascinating and often controversial sites in the cultural practices of Germany in the aftermath of communism and Cold War division. Their complex spatialities are explored in the tensions between personal and collective memories, local and regional histories, and national narratives of repression and resistance. Questions are asked about the nature of memory, of home and nation, of belonging, of trauma and rupture, of reconciliation and healing as they are represented in the exhibits. Fiona Smith is a human geographer, whose work focuses on intersections between material and representational practices in the cultural and political geographies of eastern Germany. Eine Vortrags- und Gesprächsreihe zur Kunst im öffentlichen Raum und zu neuen künstlerischen Strategien.
