Stih & Schnock are conceptual artists based in Berlin. Their work explores how memory functions in the social sphere and how it is reflected symbolically in the space of the city; they consider how the intrusion of art in public space affects everyday life in memorial projects like BUS STOP. In addition to creating "social sculpture" these artists evaluate post-colonial and human rights issues in the context of collections and their objects, like the environmental installation "Who Needs Art, We Need Potatoes" (Staatsgalerie Stuttgart) and the multimedia installation "LIFE~BOAT", (Peabody Essex Museum in Salem/Massasusetts). They question and critique assumptions regarding cultural identity, cultural transmission, and cultural memory by drawing new links between aesthetics, culture and politics. With their current project "Show Your Collection" they look into Munich Museums and most recently, they published the map "The City As Text - Jewish Munich". http://www.stih-schnock.de/
