"European Kunsthalle Cologne" - defining the parameters for a new centre for contemporary art
Vortrags- und Gesprächsreihe zur Kunst im öffentlichen Raum und neue künstlerische Strategien (in engl. Sprache).

The European Kunsthalle in Cologne is an institution that works without any support from the city and without an actual building. Its two-year foundation phase has been devoted to exploring both spatial and conceptual models for a new institution, whilst investigating the conditions under which a centre for contemporary art can operate today. While concentrating on its first exhibition "Models for Tomorrow: Cologne, " the presentation will introduce some of the core concepts of the European Kunsthalle's research and working methods. The lecture will give an insight into the exhibition concept, which takes the public sphere as a starting point for raising questions about the institution's connection to the urban fabric. It will introduce the different proposals by contemporary artists that revolve around the creation of a new platform for art. Julia Höner studied Cultural Studies and Aesthetics in Hildesheim and London. She is a curator at the European Kunsthalle in Cologne and co-curator of "Models for Tomorrow: Cologne".
