Are they guarding the borders, or preventing us from leaving? on 5.2.

Deborah Kelly, co-curator of the Terra Nullius exhibition is primarily an artist, practicing both solo and a member of the art gang boat-people. Her work has participated in political discourse for more than 25 years. Over the past decade she has focused on the urgent local struggles engendered by the radical right wing government of John Howard, who paradoxically built a community of his adversaries. Across political organising, trouble making, and other forms of culture, the Howard era inspired artists, media makers and activists to build productive allegiances.

Deborah Kelly will present some of the many ways we failed to undermine our government: its racism, its rush to war, it's fearmongering, its reiteration of the primacy of heterosexuals over other life forms... etc.

Traditional Australian cakes will be served.
